Pompallier School Values.

It is week 4 of term 4 2017 and one of my favorite topics in the literacy contract is the word art. The task was to create a word art about our Pompallier Catholic School values which are integrity tika, aroha love, mercy atawhai, and pono truth. We had to make the main values in capital letters and elaborate on them further in lower case. The WALT was to unpack our values and understand them better. Mine looks like this.

If you would like to try this out for yourself you can go to wordart.com

Maori Word Find

This Week is week 2 of term 4 and I am really enjoying the Maori word find task. The WALT was to understand and locate the te reo words. Use the te reo words to create an imaginary pikitia. There were 2 tasks, the first task was to complete a word find made up of Te Reo Maori words. The words you had to find were the names of some birds such as the Kakapo, Kea, Ruru, Tui, And a couple more as well. Once you had completed the word find you were able to move on to the second task. The goal for the second task was to draw a picture out of Maori words a few of the Maori words were kapua which means cloud, awa which means river, and rakau which means wood.  So that was basically the explanation of the Maori task in our literacy contact thank you for reading.

Conservation Research.

As we return to school we get back into the learning mood. This week we were given a conservation literacy contract, one of the tasks was to research about a conservation topic, once you had collected all of the research you had to create a poster for the public to inform the reader of harmful damages contributing to your topic. The topics you could choose were animals, estuaries, coastal, fresh water, plants, and marine. The topic I choose was Animals. Some of the questions we had to answer and include in our poster was How can we help? What are the issues? Who are the predators? So that is one of the tasks in our conservation literacy contract.

My Speech 2017

Tena koutou katoa ko Nevaeh ahau.

My Korero is about why my whanau is important to me I am very lucky that i have a birth whanau and a whanau why adopted me from birth. My birth mother is from Niue and my birth father is Maori.
I have two birth brothers Levi who is 8 and troy is 7 months old. I see them occasionally when we travel to Auckland. My Adopted mother is Maori from Pukepoto,  my adopted father is Maori and English from Tainui I have 4 older sisters and 2 older brothers who all live in New Zealand as well.

My Nan Elizabeth Te Paa was a fantastic role model for me. she was a very positive influence in my decision making regarding my education and sports. My Nan was very colourful in her description of
things while she kept a straight face everyone around her were either smiling or laughing.

My mum and dad love and encourage me to strive at school and at sport and set my goals high. I love my special time with mum where we have one on one time talking, baking, and planning things, I also love my special times with dad over at the farm at Ngakahu helping him move the stock or  driving the tractors with him. We talk about farming and he tells me stories of what it was like when he was growing up, the time I spend one on one with both my mum and dad are very precious to me.

My aunty Kahlene is a police officer in Melbourne Australia. She comes home to New Zealand regularly she always visits me, mum, and dad, she is very kind and is extremely supportive and encourages me to keep trying when I am doubting myself.

There is many times while over at Ngakahu with dad and extended Ngakahu whanau arrive to have a look around the whenua, so i get to met more aunties and uncles and cousins, and sometimes here stories of what it was for them growing up at Ngakahu, which makes me think how lucky I am.

So I hope this helps you to understand why whanau are important to me.

No reira tena koutou tena koutou katoa.
